TrueBlood

Weekly Analysis #3

TrueBlood

Recently, before Twilight was in theaters a series about vampires really caught my attention on HBO called TrueBlood. This is my favorite series since the Sopranos. This HBO series is about a world in which vampires are prevalent and other ominous creatures exist among society co-existing with humans.

Most of what we learned about stereotypes exists in this series. The vampires bite the necks of humans to drink their blood and can kill people. However, the point of the series is to show that not all vampires fall into the stereotype of being evil and killing humans for their blood. Bill Compton is one of the main characters and he is a vampire but dating a human by the name of Sookie. He is a vampire trying to prove that they are not all the same. He drinks synthetic blood, known as TrueBlood, invented by a Japanese scientist. He does bite the neck or other parts of his partner Sookie, for what looks to pleasure them both.

The vampire frenzy continues to rule the television and movie theaters. I love vampires and these movies and series are making millions of dollars because of people like me. I think the entertainment industry is finding that people yearn for the excitement that is associated with vampires.
